Honor the sacred Three Sisters teaching with this meaningful 18 oz mug featuring "Three Sisters" by Betty Albert (Wabimeguil), a Cree artist from Northern Ontario with over 30 years of artistic tradition celebrating Indigenous spirituality and cultural knowledge.
About the Artist:
Betty Albert, also known as Wabimeguil, belongs to the Chapleau Cree First Nation in Northern Ontario. She began her career in 1991 and as a professional artist concentrated her art in representing native women and spirituality. Her artwork has a special connection to the land and culture of the James Bay Cree. Both have served as the backdrop against which she has spent over thirty years evolving and developing her own distinct style of Indigenous artwork.
About the Three Sisters: The Three Sisters - corn, beans, and squash - are a sacred teaching in many Indigenous cultures, particularly among the Haudenosaunee (Iroquois) and other Eastern Woodland peoples. These three crops are planted together in a symbiotic relationship: corn provides a structure for beans to climb, beans fix nitrogen in the soil to nourish the other plants, and squash spreads along the ground to retain moisture and prevent weeds. This teaching represents cooperation, interdependence, and the wisdom of working together for mutual benefit.
