Indigenous Art Mug Connected - Western Shoshone Artist Micqaela Jones | Framing Dames
Celebrate the interconnectedness of all things with this meaningful 18 oz mug featuring "Connected" by Micqaela Jones, a Western Shoshone artist from Nevada whose work is showcased at prestigious Indigenous art markets across North America.
About the Artist:
Micqaela Jones is a member of the Te-moak Tribe of Western Shoshone in Nevada. She grew up on the Duck Valley Indian Reservation of the Shoshone and Paiute Nations, located 100 miles northeast of Elko, Nevada on the Idaho border. Her youth was filled with rich visual experiences - days spent hunting, fishing, and enjoying the beauty of Nevada's outdoors with her sister and two brothers. It wasn't until later in life, as a young adult, that Micqaela began painting and showing her art at venues including Santa Fe Indian Market, Eiteljorg Museum Indian Art Market, Autry Museum Los Angeles, Cherokee Art Market, and Red Earth Market.
Cultural Significance: The concept of connection is central to Indigenous worldviews - the understanding that all living things are interconnected and interdependent. This teaching reminds us that our actions affect the whole web of life, and that we are all related.
